The summer of 2016 marked a significant moment in my development as a learner and teacher. Taking advantage of my experience and time, I opened a Spanish class for younger students who were interested in gaining a head start on a foreign language. Around twenty young students made an appearance at our community center on June 12, 2016, where I held my first lesson in Spanish language and culture.

I introduced the students to the Spanish alphabet with a powerpoint and lecture I created, pleasantly surprised and impressed by their energy and keenness to learn. They seemed eager to participate, and after the presentation, managed to complete several worksheets based on what they had learned even in such a short period of time. They followed along the videos I prepared afterwards of Spanish alphabet songs, appearing to enjoy my attempts at making the lesson more interesting and diverse.

In all, I am sincerely happy to see the students’ enthusiasm and passion, fully absorbed in the lesson and taking away knowledge in the new foreign language and culture. Due to their enjoyment, I consider it a success, but more importantly, a great luxury to be able to teach such excited young students and share my experience and understanding.
